Introduction
Davenies is a day preparatory school for boys aged 4-13 based in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. The school’s mission is to ensure every pupil has access to high quality and varied education, encouraging their boys to become well-rounded learners. From academic opportunities to creative, artistic or sport, the school’s holistic approach to a child’s development results in a life-long eagerness for learning.
Background
Davenies school is a much-valued repeat customer of ours, having worked with them on several projects in the past. Our first project with the school was to transform their KS1 playground – they wanted to create an active play space that could be used all-year round, with physical play equipment suitable for their boys ages 4 to 7 years. For this phase, we installed an Artificial Grass Roadway with a Clamber Stack in the centre, with Movable Trail Equipment for he children to create their own trails.
For the next phase, we worked with the school to install a Sports and Active Playground for their KS2 pupils, which you can read about here.We have also since returned to the school to improve the surface in their reception playground, by installing Luxury Green Artificial Grass.
Project Details
After working with us on the three previous playground projects, the school were eager to get back to us when they had another outdoor space they wanted to develop. For this project, they wanted to create an outdoor learning and play environment for their EYFS children, that would help them to develop in the 7 areas of learning while providing an exciting and stimulating playground.
They wanted their playground to have clear designated areas – for this, we installed Luxury Artificial Grass in a range of colours with graphics to create a mud kitchen area, water play area and a construction zone.
We also added a Construction Wall – a hard-wearing HDPE backdrop with chalkboard for pupils to build against and draw their ideas – into their construction zone, as well as a Jumbo Chalkboard to provide a large canvas for groups of children to draw on. We also added two movable Water Walls, which can be combined with their existing play items to create an exciting new water play area, and a Mud Kitchen.
