Brief

For this project, the school requested to upgrade their sports provisions in their playground – these facilities would be used for PE lessons as well as break and lunch time recreational activities. The school met with a member of our team to discuss a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) for football and netball matches, then mentioned that they also wanted a unique feature in their playground – an outdoor bowling alley!

Project Details

Our design team were extremely eager to get started on this exciting project! They conducted some research into the best way to achieve this in a playground. We created a double lane Bowling Alley with mounds, covered with Luxury Artificial Grass, to the outside to act as buffers to help guide the bowling ball to the pins and prevent it crossing into the other lane. We installed HDPE panels at the end of the lanes in the school’s colours. This brightens up the area and creates a clear goal for the children to aim for. For the lanes themselves, we used Multi-Play Artificial Grass as its short pile height makes it ideal for sports, as well as being low maintenance and durable.

For the MUGA, we installed 2m High Twin Wire Mesh Fencing with a single gate and Senior Goal Ends. To make the MUGA usable all year round we installed green sports grass with football sports lines. This area is perfect for children of all ages and abilities to play at break times or take part in sports during PE lessons.
