The Perfect Infant Playground Canopy in Dorset

📍Canford Heath Infant School, Poole
🗓 September 2024

Introduction
We have worked with Canford Heath Infant School in Dorset on numerous occasions and had the pleasure of being invited back to discuss their latest project.
Area of installation

Brief
For this area, they wanted to use space that they had at the entrance to one of their buildings. As this playground was to be for their pupils in the EYFS, they had to make sure it was sectioned off for the safety of the children and for supervision purposes.
Solution
We created the perfect playground to facilitate development in the seven areas of learning, complete with sensory play equipment, mark making stations, and music. The area is completely enclosed by brightly coloured fencing and is under a canopy to keep the children sheltered during the wetter months and provide shade in the playground during the summer.
Project Details
Steel Canopy – providing shelter and shad for children all year round.
Creative Play – children can practise their handwriting, letter formation or just take part in drawing activities using the chalkboard and whiteboard.
Mud Kitchen – encourages imaginative role play in the playground.
Water Play – helps children develop mathematics and motor skills while experimenting with water play, using the Water Wall and Water Tub.
Rainbow trio Ensemble – encourages children to be creative and express themselves while also encourages social interaction and communication.
Sand Quarry – adds an exciting role play element to sand play with its construction themed back, Pulley System and Bucket Scales to help children learn about mathematical concepts like weight, volume and capacity.
Wetpour Surfacing – an all-weather rubber safety surface, perfect for the playground.
Rainbow Recycled Fencing – ensures children are safely supervised in the area while still providing access to the rest of the school playground.
Result
This outdoor area achieves a lot in a small space! The children now have somewhere to learn and play during lunch and break times.
