Sensory Garden for Together Trust

📍Together Trust - Haines House, Manchester
Together Trust contacted us to help them create a physical play and sensory garden for their residential home, Haines House in Manchester. After meeting with one of our playground consultants, Anna, they discussed their ideas and what they wanted to achieve from the area. Our design team came up with an amazing design that created an environment that was both inclusive and enriching.
This vibrant outdoor area was designed with inclusivity at its core, ensuring that children of all abilities can enjoy, engage, and benefit from the space. What makes this project stand out is its specific focus on stimulating the vestibular and proprioceptive senses - two critical systems that help children with balance, coordination, and body awareness. The vestibular system, responsible for balance, spatial orientation, and coordination, and the proprioceptive system, which helps children understand their body position and movement, play vital roles in a child’s physical, emotional, and cognitive development. When these systems are stimulated through movement and resistance-based activities, they can help improve attention, emotional regulation, motor planning, and overall well-being.
This fantastic new garden now has:
Group Swing, In-Ground Trampoline and Satellite Carousel - provides vestibular and proprioceptive stimulation
Large Sliding Sandpit 🪣 - encourages messy play and provide tactile stimulation
Musical Instruments 🎶 - promotes creativity and provide auditory stimulation
Timber Tepee - creates a quiet zone in the playground
