Brief

Wentworth Primary School Academy in Dartford is a large, 3-form entry school for children aged 4-11 years. The school benefits from extensive grounds, so wanted to redevelop some of their outside area into a playground for their KS1 children. The school wanted to create a physical play area that could be used before and after school as well as breaks times, and wanted to have an element of imaginative play incorporated.

Area of installation

Solution

After reviewing the school’s ideas and their budget, our design team worked collaboratively on a design that would satisfy both conditions – a Pirate Play Area complete with play boat, pirate themed panels, and sea-themed safety surfacing – linking up to their existing trim trail pieces.

Project Details

This project included a Pirate’s Paradise play boat; this is an exciting piece of physical play equipment that has pirate themed panels, including an Ahoy There Play Panel and Plot a Course Chalkboard, a climbing wall, scramble net, slide and port hole windows. The school chose to have these elements in blue to match the school’s colour.

To ensure the area could be used all year round, we installed Luxury Artificial Grass around the boat, with Funky Artificial Grass to create a beach-theme, using beige and blue colours. There is also Shark Fin Graphics around the boat, to add another element of fun! Creating a themed area is a great way of adding imaginative play elements into an adventure play area.

Result

Wentworth’s PTA worked extremely hard to fundraise for this project, so we were over the moon to hear how happy they were with the outcome. We hope you have lots of fun on it for years to come!
