High School Sports Area in London

Introduction
Sacred Heart High School is an all-girls secondary school located in Hammersmith, West London. The school dedicated itself to academic excellence, community spirit, and the personal development of every student. Physical education and sport participation plays a key role in their commitment to well-rounded growth, and their facilities are designed to encourage participation, teamwork, and athletic achievement.
Area of installation
Brief
The school got in contact with us to arrange a visit with Martin, as they wanted to provide their students with a durable, weather-resistant sports pitch that could be used year-round for PE lessons, sports matches and inter-school tournaments. This was to be installed within their existing tarmac area.
Solution
We decided that the best solution, that would provide a pitch that is usable year-round as well as have a aesthetic finish, would be to create a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) comprising of two pitches next to each other, using artificial grass. We also thought it was important that the design of the pitches reflected the school’s identity.
Project Details
Sports Pitches: Multi-Play Sports Grass was used to create the pitches themselves – this type of surface is perfect for pitches due to its shorter pile height, as well as being available in a variety of colours making a completely unique sports zone. Blue was used for the main pitch, to reflect the school’s colour, with yellow for the line markings.
Bespoke Centre Circle: Each pitch has a personalised centre circle with the school’s logo, adding a personal and unique touch to the area.
Spectator Area: Luxury Artificial Grass was installed around the pitch, to create an appealing and durable viewing area, as well as brightening up the area between the pitches.
Running Track: To create somewhere for athletics races, we installed a Running Track around the pitches to create somewhere for athletics races.
Result
The new sports pitches have completely transformed the school’s outdoor space into a vibrant and practical sports zone. Students now benefit from a dedicated, high-quality environment for physical education and competitive sports. We are very proud to have worked with the school on this project and are thrilled with the results – ready for the new academic year!
