Introduction
The Playground Company was delighted to return to Brindishe Manor School in Lewisham, London, to complete another exciting outdoor development project. As an existing customer, Brindishe Manor School approached us to create a dedicated Forest School outdoor classroom, providing pupils with a sheltered space to learn, explore and connect with nature throughout the year.
The installation of a beautiful 4.5m hexagonal timber gazebo has transformed an underutilised outdoor area into a welcoming and practical learning environment, supporting the school's commitment to outdoor education and enriching pupils' learning experiences beyond the traditional classroom.

The Brief
Brindishe Manor School wanted to make better use of its existing outdoor space by introducing a purpose-built Forest School shelter that could accommodate a full class of pupils for outdoor lessons and activities.
The school required a durable, weather-resistant structure that would provide protection from the elements while maintaining an open connection with the surrounding natural environment. The new outdoor classroom needed to offer sufficient seating for group activities, practical storage for teaching resources and an accessible entrance to ensure the space could be enjoyed by pupils with different needs.
With an established working relationship already in place, The Playground Company worked closely with the school to provide a solution that balanced functionality, durability and visual appeal.
The Solution
Our team supplied and installed a 4.5m Hexagonal Timber Gazebo, carefully positioned within the school's existing outdoor area, surrounded by mature trees and natural greenery.
Designed to accommodate approximately 20ā30 children, the spacious gazebo provides a dedicated outdoor teaching space suitable for Forest School sessions, group discussions, storytelling, creative activities and nature-based learning.
The structure incorporates several practical features to support outdoor education:
4.5m Hexagonal Timber Gazebo: A spacious, purpose-built outdoor classroom designed to accommodate group learning and Forest School activities.
Timber Cladding and Protective Glazing: Timber panels and shatterproof polycarbonate glazing help create a sheltered environment while retaining the feel of an outdoor learning space.
Integrated Bench Seating: Built-in timber seating provides comfortable areas for pupils to gather, collaborate and participate in lessons.
Decked Flooring and Access Ramp: A raised timber deck with an access ramp creates a defined, practical learning area with improved accessibility.
Integrated Storage: Storage units positioned on either side of the entrance provide convenient space for outdoor learning equipment and teaching resources.
The natural timber finish complements the surrounding trees and greenery, helping the Forest School gazebo blend seamlessly into its environment.
The Result
The completed installation has provided Brindishe Manor School with a fantastic new Forest School outdoor classroom, offering pupils and teachers a dedicated space to enjoy outdoor learning throughout the seasons.
The Playground Company is proud to have continued its relationship with the Brindishe Federation, delivering another high-quality outdoor development that will support pupils' learning and enjoyment for years to come.
